Christmas comes early as Teachers UK award Mansfield Town FC Mascot Day to two deserving children

Two school children have received early Christmas presents from Teachers UK as the education recruitment specialist has awarded full Mascot Days at Mansfield Town Football Club to each, after their schools nominated them as outstanding pupils.

Shirebrook’s Brookfield Primary School pupil, Jack Barksby, is described by his Teacher Daniel Brickles in glowing terms. “He’s fantastic! He’s just such a lovely boy who gets on with everyone, he’s always so enthusiastic. He’s a huge football fan and holds a season ticket at Shirebrook Town and has even managed to talk them into buying the school a new football kit which will really benefit the school. I am sure he will have a fantastic day, it will be a great experience for him.”

Jack said he wants to take his Dad with him on the day. “I am really looking forward to seeing the match and I would like to say thank you to Mr Brickles for nominating me for this competition.”

Pupil Brody Marriott who goes to Dalestorth Primary & Nursery School in Sutton in Ashfield has also won a full mascot day, which sees children lead the team on to the pitch and received signed souvenirs. Brody was nominated by his Head Teacher Mrs Sally Stafford who says Brody is a very deserving pupil. “The nomination of Brody was suggested by a group of parents whose children are in Brody's class.  They thought he needed something to look forward to as he had been having a difficult time as his little brother has been diagnosed with cancer and is due to have a life-saving operation. Brody has also been missing his mum who is having to spend lots of time in hospital with his brother.

“As a school we thought it would be a perfect reward for Brody, not just because he has been having a tough time, but because he is a super young man 100% of the time!  His behaviour and manners are exceptional.  He has never had a telling off in all the time he has been at Dalestorth.  He is very kind to his friends and is an extremely hard worker.  The reward is also perfect for Brody as he absolutely loves football! All of us here at Dalestorth can't think of a more deserving candidate and we know Brody will just love the experience.  He is particularly looking forward to training with the players and the whole experience will be enhanced even more by the fact it is his birthday.  Thanks to those who suggested the nomination, Teachers UK and Mansfield Town FC it will be a birthday he won't forget.”

Louise Hamby of Teachers UK, said that they were delighted to give the prizes to two very deserving children. “It has been wonderful to be able to give these prizes to two such lovely children. Both are highly thought of within their school and are described as kind and helpful to everyone. We hope that the day builds some happy memories for both of them and that they have a wonderful experience at Mansfield Town Football Club.”
