Overseas Applicants – Additional Information

Teachers UK check that foreign nationals have permission to work in the UK. Nationals of Gibraltar and other countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Union can be employed on the same basis as UK citizens. Other non-UK nationals will require permission to work in the form of a visa. As with all applicants, we ask them to bring with them, original identification preferably a passport, also the originals of any visas where applicable.

For teachers who do not qualify for a UK visa, Teachers UK can help obtain and secure a work permit for the teacher to live and work in the UK. This can only be achieved for longer-term vacancies, not daily supply, and in conjunction with the relevant school and our immigration agents.

All overseas candidates who have been in the UK for less than 12 months are asked to provide a valid police check from their country of origin. Where the candidate has been in the UK for 12 months or more, then an enhanced disclosure through the CRB Disclosure Service would be requested.
