Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday – Friday – 08:30 – 16:00 – term time only
Pay: £14.25 – £15 per hour (dependant on experience)
Location: Chesterfield
 
Teachers UK is seeking a patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Chesterfield, working with pupils who require additional support to access learning. The school caters for students aged 5-19 with SLD, SpLD, MLD, SEMH needs, ASC, ADHD and PMLD.
 
The school is based in a good location with access to public transport.

SEN Teaching Assistant role requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults
  • Experience supporting people with SEND
  • Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language difficulties
  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

 
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Adapt learning activities to support different learning styles
  • Support the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons
  • Help manage behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies
  • Encourage engagement, independence and confidence
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teacher and wider support staff
