Our SEND team at Teachers UK are looking to recruit Special Educational Needs (SEND) Teachers for an alternative provision for Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) within Derby.

This role will be a full-time commitment beginning in the Autumn term of the new academic year, September 2020. The role will be on an ongoing basis and for the right person a permanent opportunity will be offered. We are particularly looking for SEN teachers who have a specific specialism in Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and have the passion for making a real difference within a child education within an alternative provision. We are recruiting for a Secondary school with complex social and emotional background and have Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Autism (ASC) and severe challenging behaviours. It is essential if you are applying for this role that you have the relevant experience and previous experience within this type of role. You must have a sound understanding of SEN and the complexities around SEMH as you will be working with children with who will need a calm and stimulating environment.

Typical School hours are 8.30am-3.30pm with an hour for lunch. As a teacher you will be expected to maximise to the best of your ability the success you have in the role of responsibilities of this assignment.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have the relevant teacher qualifications including Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have previous experience working in an alternative provision for SEMH.
  • Have excellent SEMH Knowledge
  • Have an up to date Team Teach certificate or be willing to complete a course on this
  • Use positive and effective behaviour management strategies
  • Be able to suitably plan stimulating lessons & successfully provide a stimulating and engaging educational environment
  • Have excellent curriculum knowledge
  • Have a proven track record of raising attainment
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You must have a recent DBS that is on the DBS update service or be prepared to undertake a new DBS with Teachers UK
