Unions have requested the government allow teachers and support staff to wear face masks in schools in England in order to protect them and help limit the spread of coronavirus. The government, currently says due to staff and pupils being kept in consistent groups, risk is limited and could affect communication in classes. However, face coverings are now mandatory in most enclosed public spaces across England and unions say the current policy in schools is not consistent with measures afforded to other workers.
