SEND Teaching Assistant

Teachers UK are working in partnership with a SEND school in Retford and are seeking multiple TA’s to start ASAP with the view of going permanent after a sucessful transition period. The school caters for children aged 5-18 who have SEMH needs, ASC, ADHD and Complex Care needs, often due to trauma. The school has only recently opened and are in a big growth period for both enrolling new staff and students. Training can and will be provided and there are constant opportunities to develop within this role. 
Duties include: 

• Working with small groups or on a one-to-one basis 

• Support the class teacher in addressing the needs of the pupils 

• Assist pupils who need particular help with behaviour management to overcome barriers to learning 

• Help to develop and implement IEPs/EHCPs and behaviour management strategies 

 
The ideal candidate will be: 

• Have an understanding of needs including BESD, EBD, SEMH and other SpLD 

• Be patient, resilient and empathetic to students’ individual needs 

• Experience of working with children and young adults as either a Youth Worker, a Sports Coach or within an education setting would be advantageous 

• An up-to-date DBS that is on the DBS Update Service (or be willing to undertake a new one) 

• Proof of Safeguarding at a minimum of Level 1 (or be willing to undergo online training)
