Increase in Covid testing

Figures show that 15% of pupils missed the last week of term and that the figure was even higher in the Midlands at 23%.

Concern for the lost learning time has led to the government advising on mass testing of Covid within schools, but announced it the day before end of term, making it an enormous challenge for headteachers to plan in advance.

Unions have highlighted that it is government advice and not mandatory at this stage.
