Primary Teaching Assistant – Day-to-Day, Short-Term & Long-Term Opportunities
Location: Retford

Teachers UK is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and proactive Primary Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of welcoming primary schools in Retford and the surrounding areas.
Whether you’re looking for the flexibility of day-to-day supply, short-term assignments, or the stability of a long-term role, we have opportunities to suit your availability and career aspirations.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2), working alongside class teachers to help create an engaging, inclusive, and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Primary Teaching Assistant Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (school-based experience is desirable)
  • Experience supporting pupils within a primary school setting is advantageous
  • Understanding of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, positive and supportive approach to working with children
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through Teachers UK

The Successful Primary Teaching Assistant Will

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and within whole-class activities
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and participation in learning
  • Support positive behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Help create an inclusive, safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Adapt confidently to different classrooms, year groups and school settings
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and wider school teams to support pupil progress
